Horticulture & Landscaping
This innovative program is designed to prepare students for the many career opportunities within the horticulture industry. In Horticulture, students develop the skills in Arboriculture, Floriculture, Turf Management, Power Equipment Technology, Irrigation Technologies, Heavy Equipment Operations, and Landscape Design, Maintenance and Construction. Students can specialize in landscape management, landscape construction, Athletic and Golf turf management, horticultural business management, Floral Design and Arborculture. Students operate specialized turf and landscape power equipment as they assist in the care of the expansive campus while undertaking many community projects in our five member towns.
Horticulture has incorporated the Simlog Virtual Reality Excavator and Skid Loader. Simlog’s Excavator and Skid Loader puts students at the controls of modern, sophisticated machines with the interaction of a dump truck and a virtual work site featuring life-like materials. Training efficiency is delivered through a modular Instructional Design that teaches real skills for productive and safe equipment operations in the field.
