Marine Technology
This technical program provides training to students in the recreational marine repair industry, including operation, maintenance, repair, rebuilding and installation of onboard systems. Our students are taught two and four cycle engine theory, hull maintenance and repair, marine canvas fabrication and repair, gas and diesel engine operation and repair, and welding and precision metal fabrication. A large six bay, well equipped shop features the latest tools, shop demonstrators, updated ventilation, and state-of-the art spray booth/prep station for fiberglass repair. Our students have fabricated a heavy duty hydraulic trailer for use with our Kubota tow vehicle and lifting/support equipment.
Marine has incorporated the Lincoln and the Miller Virtual Reality Welding systems; they provide a hands-on safe and controlled environment for students to practice and refine their skills without the inherent risks associated with live welding. This risk mitigation is particularly crucial for novice welders and contributes to overall workplace safety.
Welding simulation allows students to engage in targeted, focused training sessions with real-time feedback. Its versatility makes it suitable for a wide range of applications, from basic to advanced welding skill development. Catering to the diverse needs of the welding industry, and preparing students with marketable skills.
